The short version
- Free is free. Pro is a one-off payment of £14.99 that unlocks the Pro features on your account.
- Once Pro is unlocked, you can’t cancel just because you changed your mind, but if it doesn’t work as described, we’ll fix it or refund you.
- StepOver gets you moving: clear some space, use a mat that won’t slip, and stop if anything hurts.
- Be fair: don’t cheat the system, attack the site or use rude names.
1. About these terms
These terms are the agreement between you and StepOver (“we”, “us”) when you use the stepover.uk website and game. By creating an account or buying Pro you agree to them, so please read them. Our privacy policy explains how we use your information.
You can contact us at support@stepover.uk.
2. Your account
- You need to be 13 or older to create an account. If you’re under 13, a parent or guardian must agree and help set it up.
- If you’re under 18, you need a parent or guardian’s permission to buy anything. They should make the payment.
- Keep your password private. You’re responsible for what happens on your account.
- Choose a name that isn’t rude, hurtful or pretending to be someone else. We may change names that break this rule.
3. Free, Pro and Pro+
Free gives you Classic mode with a keyboard or touch screen.
Pro is a one-off payment that unlocks dance-mat play, every mode, leaderboards and the stats page on your account, for as long as we run StepOver. It is not a subscription and you won’t be charged again. The Pro features are described on our plans section and the account page.
Pro+ (an AI coach) is coming soon. It will be a monthly subscription. We’ll add its terms here, including how to cancel, before you can buy it.
4. Paying
Pro is sold through Stripe’s Managed Payments service. That means Stripe is the official seller (the “merchant of record”) for the payment: Stripe takes your payment, works out and collects any sales tax or VAT for your country, and sends your receipt. Stripe’s own terms for the payment are shown on its checkout page. Prices are shown in pounds sterling; tax may be added at checkout depending on where you live. As soon as Stripe confirms your payment, we unlock Pro on your account, and we’re responsible for providing Pro as described in these terms.
5. Cancelling and refunds
Normally, when you buy something online in the UK, you have 14 days to change your mind. Pro is digital content, which is different: before you pay, we ask you to agree that Pro is unlocked straight away and that, once it’s unlocked, you lose that 14-day right to cancel.
That doesn’t affect your legal rights if something is wrong. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, Pro must work properly, be as described and be fit for purpose. If it isn’t, email us and we’ll repair it or, if we can’t, give you a full or partial refund.
If you’re charged by mistake or charged twice, email us and we’ll refund the extra payment. If you get a refund, Pro will be switched off on your account.
6. Play safely
StepOver is a physical game. You’ll be stepping, turning and reacting quickly. Please:
- clear a space of about 2 metres by 2 metres, away from furniture, stairs, glass and pets;
- put your mat on a flat floor and make sure it can’t slide (a rug grip or non-slip underlay helps);
- play in socks or bare feet on soft mats, or in clean flat trainers on hard mats, never in football boots;
- warm up, take breaks and drink water;
- stop if you feel pain, dizziness, faintness or sickness, and get medical advice if you need to;
- if you’re pregnant, injured, or have a heart, joint or balance condition, check with a doctor first;
- grown-ups should keep an eye on younger children while they play.
Photosensitivity warning: the game uses quick flashes of colour and changing images. If you or anyone in your family has had a seizure or epilepsy, speak to a doctor before playing, and stop straight away if you feel unwell.
7. Dance mats and other kit
We don’t sell mats or other equipment. Links to mats on our site go to other shops such as Amazon, and the shop you buy from is responsible for the product. We may earn a small commission if you buy after clicking one of our links, at no extra cost to you. Most USB dance mats work with StepOver, but we can’t promise that every mat, adapter or device will. Our mat setup guide explains what to look for.
8. Using StepOver fairly
Please don’t:
- try to get Pro without paying, or break, overload or hack the site;
- copy, sell or share StepOver, or pretend it’s yours;
- use StepOver to break the law or to upset or harm anyone.
9. Our content
The StepOver name, logo, game, artwork, music and text belong to us. You can use them to play StepOver for yourself, your family, your team or your club. Please ask us before using them for anything else, such as a business or a public event.
10. Changes and availability
We keep improving StepOver, so features may change. We won’t remove the main features you’ve paid for without a good reason (for example, a legal or security problem). If we ever close StepOver, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before. We try to keep the site running all the time, but it may occasionally be unavailable, for example during updates.
We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you before they apply. If you don’t agree to new terms, you can stop using StepOver and delete your account.
11. Our responsibility to you
If we break these terms or don’t use reasonable care and skill, we’re responsible for loss or damage you suffer that was a foreseeable result of that. We’re not responsible for loss we couldn’t have foreseen, or for business losses, because StepOver is for personal use.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit. Nothing here affects your legal rights as a consumer.
12. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time on the account page. If you have Pro, deleting your account also removes Pro and we can’t restore it. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. If we do, and it wasn’t your fault, we’ll refund what you paid for Pro.
13. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts where you live.
